I work nights a lot of times and pretty much can watch the market all day. So yes, I watch them closely. Before I enter any trade, I know exactly what I expect to see that day. If I don't see it happening, I will bail. Sometimes, it reverses intraday and I miss out, but more times than not it continues with the pattern it is setting. Almost every stock I pick is at a "critical" point where it's going to move almost undoubtedly in my mind, but which way is always the mystery. lol. If I can't watch, I tell my wife what prices to inform me of and she watches and contacts me if it hits one of those numbers that I give her and she sells or buys for me. It's very black and white for me. There is no second guessing or looking back. It can beat you up too much.

willire, see Klipper's response above.
if you can watch all day, then you watch intraday charts (i use 3-minute) for signs of strength or weakness (with technical analysis- see the cd below). or i use quant to enter plays where i feel sure of a certain minimum gain, then exit on that gain or exit at a specified loss.

Nice to see things are going well for those playing here so far...Orange, your thread here is a real hit... ..and I think it could really help (force) traders to practice their trading discipline...for real.

Im particularly interested in watching how Bruce works the options as they are what I am struggling to learn about right now...lol

Im about done reading "Options as a Strategic Investment" by MacMillan, great book, but man, there is just SO much to options...

Anyway - I havent started yet, but will at some point here.

Good Luck.

i guess part of this thread is to sometimes explain "why" we did what we did, as Bruce just did. so...
what today illustrates perfectly is something i've said before when ppl ask the difference between quant and t/a. the difference is raw speed. when time matters i go with t/a (unless i already have a reporting algorithm for that issue and just plug price into it). when i have time, i prefer quant. early morning i pm'd scmfinance that i was quanting and watching mainly HRCT and CCOP.
HRCT ran 23% above open, CCOP 36% up from wednesday close but gave no entry point. but while waiting for confirmation of HRCT starting a run, along came greencat with SCRA. for SCRA i had no reporting algo. but i had what i considered a reliable source saying take a look. speed counts. t/a time, so i looked. i could see it was go-time. in the minute or so that passed, SCRA had already run from .83 to .90 (where i got in). the 3-min chart kept me in- all signals northbound. i couldn't see the top but jumped out on 1.03 bid to preserve definite >10% gain. that's it.

I sold out of icoa at .0019. Got in at .0015. Second trade in practice successful. Sorry that I can't be more active in posting this weekend. I took the family away for a long weekend.

np, Klip -- family is everything. enjoy!
but i am confused- maybe after the weekend you can tell us what / when you started, with how much etc, and where you are now. i know you posted some info but i wasn't certain if it was part of the experiment or not. thanks.

Thanks Orange. Actually the 2nd week of December. I'm just retarded and labeled the actual position of 1k as being week 1 when really it should just be zero. But hey, who cares LOL!

I put $700 into TDCP on Dec. 27 (1891 shares @.37 average pps) and sold out on Friday the 29th at .70 for roughly $1300 total after comish. I did like I said and then invested only the original $700 + the $70 (10% profit from TDCP trade) and set the rest in preparation for a losing trade in the future. I got 513,000 shares of ICOA at .0015 on Wed. with the $770 and sold it yesterday at .0019 for approx. $195 in profit. Next week, I'll invest the $850 in something, but I have no idea what at this point. The rest will be left aside. So, my "experiment account" started with $700 2 trades ago and now has about $1500 in it. I'll come up with a chart for this soon because it's going to get too long-winded to write out each time. lol.
