Orange..... nice idea and count me in. I'm going to take a little different approach and play all bottom busters (as I call them) for awhile. If the cash builds I will have to move some so that I can sleep at night.....lol.

My plan may not work but I'm going to play some of the drastic drops and look for at least 50% from each one. It will be fun anyway.

Great idea Orange....

I had started a 10k to 100k in 6 months game at investopedia, but failed to keep up on it... This is a great way to tighten up ones trading discipline (something that I could use)...

Good Luck and Ill give it a shot starting with 5 hundy as well.

Now, I better run before I tick my wife off any more....time to go tear it up on these gorgeous slopes!

Thanks,

Popcan
first of all, i'm SHOCKED at how many replies there are all of a sudden- and on new year's weekend! LOL great!
Popcan- i use lowtrades.com, $5 per trade. no minimum to open. taxes- ??- first i'll make the money then figure it out LOL.
also shocked at how many traders are climbing in! alright! this is gonna be great! welcome everybody!! somebody asked will i be posting my trades- uh, no- we'll just have to trust each other on that i think. posting the trade in advance will invalidate the model because it will pump the stock. (actually i'm even more worried it will cause the mm's to mess with it). so i'll probably mostly post only on exit. you do as you like.

would be good to have a simple format to be able to see at a glance how everybody's doing- maybe like this?--- (followed by comments)
start balance $500
last trade $350 WXXX at .0500, exit .0700
new balance $640

or something like that. whatever works for you, followed by any comments. just a suggestion.

thanks all great comments, klip, aufan, popcan, twinkle, fatbacker, newbie (i have $5 per trade acct, newb), proc, scm, grizz- this is gonna be fun!!

One way to factor in losing trades is to set aside money from trades that make, let's say, 30%. If you know what amount you are supposed to be at to stay on track and you lose on a trade, you then draw from that pool to put you back on pace. A working example of this is TDCP from this last week. If I put $1000 in to it on Thursday at .37, the charts gave me absolutely no indication that I should sell at .41 and take my 10%. I knew it was an easy 25-30% gainer. To play it cautiously and still very profitably, I sell at these levels and take my $250-$300 profit. To stay on the plan, I roll $100 into the next play and set the extra aside in anticipation of a losing play somewhere along the way. In theory, the plan is very feasible. In reality, especially when you reach the higher levels with a lot of money involved, it becomes very difficult to pick winner after winner. I highly, highly recommend to anyone that once some larger amounts of cash are made (let's say your $500 has turned into $10,000) that you concede to the idea that it may take extra weeks to become a millionaire, but you pull several thousand out yourself and take the profits and work with what's left. It is a good safety net and brings in our mottos around here of "there's no such thing as a bad profit" and not to get greedy.
klip, i gotta say for me that is def food for thought. i'm also thinking at some point to pull some out and run thru FOREX and some in metals or options etc. -- still valid for the plan, it all counts, right?
also (dreaming here), at $35,000 might take $25k to open daytrading acct to speed this up, which will only leave me $10k to trade with but will add frequency. besides, tracking the number of trades i'd have going with $35k will be too much anyway.......

LOL- aufan, considering your 3-day max hold rule on these, and if you don't have any severe losses, and if you're right often enough to avg only 25% per week, then...

wow! great to see all this interest.

while i have not started with the $500 experiment yet, i did post somewhere that three weeks ago i decided i would try and turn 1k into enough to cover my losses from fgfc (which may not be losses after all is said and done...)

so a quick update in the form that orange suggested (which i think is great) but with a little more history in my case:

start balance: 1k

first trade: $1k GTHA @ .03 and sold @ .0375
new balance: $1224 (22.4%+)

second trade: $1224 CYNS @ .041 and sold @ .052
new balance: $1524 (24.5%+)

i don't want to disclose the 3rd trade i'm in right now, as i'm not out yet, but it's looking good so far:

third trade: $1554 (had an extra $30 lying around so I threw it in LOL)
balance right now: $2k

anyways, i'll probably enter my first $500 play late next week.

Sounds like fun. I'll play. Just let me know the start day.

I'm doing something similar already, though for far different reasons. this would give me an opportunity to work on my charting,Lord knows I could use the practice.

Good Luck

Your profit percentage on this one trade beats the returns of every major index for the year. As for the higher close after your exit, it could have been just as easily a 7c turn the other way, causing a loss. Preserving your capital and limiting your loss exposure are key to succeeding in the markets. Anyone can buy a CD and make a 4 or 5% annual return. You made a profit of 33% in days or weeks. Now, do that again. and again. and again.

Well done.

Good Luck

You know TNTrader you make far too much sense.....lol. When you look at it like you just said it does look alot better. This was a 2 day play. As Orange stated earlier I usually play these drops for 3 days but this one had me nervous.

Thanks for the wake up call........

starts any day you're ready this week, tnt. i'm trying to start wednesday but if i don't see entry on anything, then oh well...
my usual style is to put it all on the best trade i can find. but this is different game. i may split into two trades; or better yet, may put half in and keep half reserve to avg down (or to jump on a move up). at this size trade it means smallcaps, so at first am def seeking daytrades ONLY, even if it means a small loss- i just don't trust smallcaps any further than a mouseclick away LOL
