I'm up for a good joke session
Guys,I'm all for joking around,I think the *** is a bit much for a lady to post.
Daizy, please do not think I was rude,a lot of people read this board for information and the appearance of turning a serious company into a joke does not look well. I did get slaughtered on the pps today,I'm staying in. mia ![]()

Yes. I am glad we can get back on track; however, we all took part in derailing the conversation, Mia.

The Marketing System wants to turn them into little tube-heads as soon as possible, and, already, we're starting to see the results of this. Kids are becoming Little Consumers at far too early an age, and, I see this as a bigger problem than the conern about ***. These kids can't sit down and read a book, or, have an intelligent conversation, because they have to be constantly entertained. It's a culture of distraction.

That's actually very strange. My little brother is 7 now and he's on teh internet atleast 30 mins a day. Sometimes plays online games but often reads some news for sports. His vocabulary is much better than other kids his age, and his reading is MILES better, not to mention his typing speed. I guses you just have to be careful and watching your kids (or little brother in my case) and make sure they're not visiting the wrong sites... always use popupblockers and that will usually keep them safe.

That the Internet would be used to market crap to young people? What's "very strange" about that? Your brother uses the Internet to play games and read about sports? That's.... uh... great. Just great. |

Well I have to say it is a risk for children on the net or aol would have not placed the parental control in their software.
My sister in laws call me asking how do these so inoccent links browsing for images the kids get a link with porn after my niece got an im asking if she was gay she was not familiar with aol's parental controls as yet. Go figure???? mia ![]()

While the internet screeners are effective at locating "retail" porn sites, they are not so effective at identifying those who distrubute adult content to the websites. People can go to such "industry" websites and see adult material because these people are selling to retailers, and not end-users. For this reason (and others,) adult material will always be available for anyone on the internet, regardless of how effective a blocking system they use.

All True
I hate to bring this up but.....................a friend told me about a porn site,so dingly mia checks it out.
Well,I was getting pop ups before the page loaded and then this big red warning from aol saying, we have your I.P. and you are being turned in...bla,bla, scared me, never tried it again!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just thought it's really sneaky the way these sites can get in on things like doll images. My niece was in a childrens chat room when she got that im. If you think about it,there are tons of I.S.P.'s who do not have the parental control like aol or msn, alway's room for inexpensive disk to run if your on a smaller net..................I hope ![]()
