what today illustrates perfectly is something i've said before when ppl ask the difference between quant and t/a. the difference is raw speed. when time matters i go with t/a (unless i already have a reporting algorithm for that issue and just plug price into it). when i have time, i prefer quant. early morning i pm'd scmfinance that i was quanting and watching mainly HRCT and CCOP.
HRCT ran 23% above open, CCOP 36% up from wednesday close but gave no entry point. but while waiting for confirmation of HRCT starting a run, along came greencat with SCRA. for SCRA i had no reporting algo. but i had what i considered a reliable source saying take a look. speed counts. t/a time, so i looked. i could see it was go-time. in the minute or so that passed, SCRA had already run from .83 to .90 (where i got in). the 3-min chart kept me in- all signals northbound. i couldn't see the top but jumped out on 1.03 bid to preserve definite >10% gain. that's it.
